Information for battery disposal
Batteries are included in the delivery of many devices supplied by OPTIMEX. Batteries or rechargeable batteries can also be installed in the devices themselves. In connection with the sale of these batteries or rechargeable batteries, OPTIMEX is obligated to inform you of the following under the German Batteries Act.
The crossed out wheelie bin on a battery / rechargeable battery indicates that old batteries must be collected separately, so that they can be brought to environmentally compliant treatment, recycling or disposal.
Batteries and rechargeable batteries cannot be disposed of with household waste; in fact, you are obligated to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries. Used batteries can contain hazardous substances, which, if not stored or disposed of properly, can endanger the environment or pose a risk to your health.
However, batteries also contain important raw materials such as iron, zinc, manganese or nickel for instance and are recycled. You can either return the batteries to us after using them or return them in your immediate vicinity (e.g. in trade or local collection points) free of charge.
Any disposal with household waste is strictly prohibited according to the German Batteries Act. Batteries containing hazardous substances are marked with the symbol of a crossed out wheelie bin. The chemical name of the hazardous substance is indicated underneath the wheelie bin symbol.
Cd: contains more than 0.002 per cent cadmium.
Hg: contains more than 0.0005 per cent mercury.
Pb: contains more than 0.004 per cent lead.
Recycling waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
Electrical and electronic devices cannot be disposed of with household waste. You can return your used electronic devices to one of the local collection points free of charge. OPTIMEX explicitly supports the contents of the German Batteries Act and the WEEE directive. Therefore, we urge you to observe the aforementioned instructions and in doing so, join us in ensuring a healthier environment.
